About My Room...
Around the Room:
Favorite thing you did/happened to you this summer.
What is the kindest thing that someone has ever done for you? What have you done for someone?
Something you're afraid of?
Something you're looking forward to this school year.
Four Corners - This activity will get us started with an ongoing conversation during our first unit of study and the writing activity for this week. One corner is "strongly agree," one is "agree," one is "disagree" and one is "strongly disagree"...
A person’s identity stays the same throughout his/her life.
You can usually figure out a person’s identity by looking at their appearance.
My true identity is not the same as what others might perceive it to be.
You can learn a lot about someone by their friendships.
If you are smart, you don't have to try hard.
If there's an obstacle, I try to figure out a solution around it.
I don’t like trying new things, especially if they look hard.
Even if I don't always do this, I think it's important to have a growth mindset (understand I can learn/change/grow).

You can also use a written planner (copies are on the door).
You have the rest of the class to draft. Do not stress, just be honest and write what comes to mind. You will given credit for the assignment so long as you "give me something." We will continue to work on this through the week as a reminder of the writing process.
Using this GC Assignment, copy and paste your old "About Me" into a document, and revise your "About Me" paragraph, which should include things like:
What is one way you feel you are different/have changed compared to the beginning of last year?
What school subjects are your favorite? What hobbies/activities do you enjoy? What has changed?
What particular skills, talents, and knowledge do you have or are proud of? What have you improved on?
What do you like learning about? What do you not like learning about?
How big is your family, and do you have any siblings? Do you like them? ;)
What are your favorite foods, TV shows, movies, games, color, etc.? What has changed?
Anything else you'd like Ms. Tucker to know about you heading into the school year?
